The sponsoring exclusively addresses students and scholars of the Karlsruhe University of Music. The foundation focuses on the piano but is not limited to it as teaching subject.

Founders

Encourage music at the highest level

Youth makes music – at the Karlsruhe University of Music accomplished at the highest level. This motivated Dr. Hermann Buettner, attorney-at-law at the Federal Court of Justice to pay particular attention to young pianists of this university and to initiate a piano contest for students in 1998. With the intention to sustainably secure the success of the well-established and thriving “Dr. Hermann Buettner Piano Contest” and to support additional projects of the university, Dr. Buettner and his wife Mrs Edith Adler-Buettner during their lifetime established the ADLER BUETTNER FOUNDATION in the form of an incorporated foundation in German civil law officially acknowledged as legal entity on July 8, 2016.

Both founders actively endorse the foundation – Mrs Adler-Buettner as creative consultant and idea provider, Dr. Buettner as university partner and foundation executive.

In 2002, October 23 Dr. Buettner was appointed Honorary Senator of the Karlsruhe University of Music. In his capacity as principal of the university Professor Hartmut Hoell is contributing to the success of the Foundation with dedicated support.

Dr. Hermann Büttner

University Partner and Foundation Executive

Those abundantly blessed by their own fortunes should give something back to other people. I admire artistic talent in young people, an attribute I was not granted and I am deeply impressed by their excellent musical skills. They deserve personal and material support. This inspires me to a heartfelt devotion to the Karlsruhe University of Music and its highly gifted students.
